Win for NFL Former NFL Player
The NFL Player Benefit Plans have just agreed to pay more than $300,000 in full satisfaction of a ruling by the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit that former Chicago Bears and Washington Redskins linebacker Wilber B. Marshall, Jr. was improperly deprived of disability benefits for an eight-month period in 2001. Mr. Marshall suffers from degenerative arthritis of the knees and ankles, severe straightening of the normally curved spine, and boutonnière's deformities of his hands--among other severe and painful reminders of his many years with the NFL.
The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals reversed a ruling by the United States District Court that Mr. Marshall was not entitled to benefits.
Mr. Marshall was represented on that appeal by Dan Sullivan of Tighe Patton Armstrong Teasdale.
